Amilton Godoy Trio presents
“ FROM JAZZ TO SAMBA, FROM SAMBA TO JAZZ “ – A tribute to the ZIMBO TRIO
Show release
Amilton Godoy, currently leader of the Amilton Godoy Trio (formerly the Zimbo Trio), has witnessed first-hand practically all of the finest moments of Brazilian Popular Music (MBP) in its heyday throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Elis Regina, Elizeth Cardoso, Wilson Simonal, Baden Powell, Vinicius de Moraes, Jorge Ben, Simonal, Chico Buarque and Jair Rodrigues are some of the artists who he accompanied with the Zimbo Trio and today Amilton represents a living testament to an explosively creative period in Brazilian music.
Still widely recognised as a great pianist both nationally and internationally and responsible for creating the Samba Jazz school with a focus on Brazilian instrumental music, Amilton continues to produce at a very high quality, taking his music out to the four corners of the globe.
From Jazz to Samba, From Samba to Jazz is a show not to be missed, dedicated to the ZIMBO TRIO and its historical journey through the rich musical tapestry of samba jazz.
Amilton’s experience and musical knowledge make From Jazz to Samba, From Samba to Jazz an inspiring education in the development of Brazilian music, jazz and samba.
